YouTube Patents

The news has been seen this week that Google has filed a patent that suggest that YouTube is going to be a hub for interactive gaming as well as the world’s most popular video site. This patent was actually filed by Google who are the owners of the fantastic and most famous video site ‘YouTube’. As reported by Bnet who have uncovered this news the patent has been named as ‘web-based system for generation of interactive games based on digital videos’. So this action from Google’s side has been a very intelligent one and will give a status of YouTube in front of the whole world.

Some of the important points of that document are “Systems and methods are provided for adding and displaying interactive annotations for existing online hosted videos. A graphical annotation interface allows the creation of annotations and association of the annotations with a video” and it also says that “Annotations may be of different types and have different functionality, such as altering the appearance and/or behavior of an existing video, e.g. by supplementing it with text, allowing linking to other videos or web pages, or pausing playback of the video.” All these statements are depicting a new and different future of YouTube site and now the content of YouTube has been personalized and using it would be considered as infringement.
