There are speculations that a legal battle could be brewing between the two technology giants Apple and Palm after the makers of the much hyped iPhone finally earned the patent for the first multi-functional interaction with the mobile. The company has recently earned the patent which says that the touch screen device as well as the method and the applications for the user interface that would determine the commands to apply heuristics.

The news that the Apple receiving the patent could mean a lot of trouble for the Palm Pre, especially after Apple managing to get the patent for all the ‘multi-touch’ gestures that are found in both – Apple as well as Palm Pre. Palm has also asserted that the company possesses a long history of innovation and its impact has been reflected in the Palm products ever since. Palm has been recognised for its primary patents in the mobile world. The officials from Palm also confirmed that now since the company is experiencing legal problems, it would take all the necessary steps in order to defend them.

The company also added that the multi-touch has been existing for ages and then Palm isn’t worried about Apple getting the patent to a point were no one else would use it. Some of the authentic sources have also confirmed that Google is preparing the same for its Android OS so that there are no chances that the two major brands would be working on the same applications even if there was a danger of being sued.
