Windows Vista doesn’t seem to function well on the Asus Eee Netbook andasus-eee1 hence it’s best to upgrade it to the Windows 7 fun. Windows 7 is supposed to run better on the PCs with low specifications. At the same time as the operating system is scalable, the beta version itself is being branded as the “ultimate”.

Installation

Since the netbooks do not have the optical drives, it is imperative to look for an external DVD drive. The external drives are becoming extremely rare these days, even rarer than a floppy drive. In reality, the installation for Windows 7 is extremely simple but lengthy. When you upgrade the netbook from XP to Windows 7 there are chances that you would receive the message of “disk full” or “no space for temporary files”. In order to continue with the clean install, you must remove the unwanted stuff such as the OpenOffice files or other surplus software. You can also go ahead with the upgrading option, but with something as frugal as the netbook, it would be recommended that you opt with the clean install.

Windows 7 is known for quicker installs but whenever it was run on the other laptops it took about an hour to load completely; however seemed to be much slower with the netbook.

Crashes

It took some restarts to actually get started to the final phase of the installation. It actually takes long enough that it keeps you wondering that would it ever load or not in the first place. Once started, it takes a lot of time for the Windows 7 to configure itself.

Well, to conclude this in a sentence, Windows 7 works perfectly fine. Even before the drivers were properly installed in the system, it worked fine. Despite adding the Wi-Fi and the other complicated stuff, the machine worked perfectly well and seemed as if it was designed for the Windows 7. Even if the netbook is running well, it still takes a while to get accustomed to the new operating system by Windows since they make sure that each version of their operating system is different and bigger than the previous one.

Both the netbook as well the Windows 7 complement each other to the maximum. It would be an entertaining experience to use the Windows 7 version equipped with all the entertainment tools after the seemingly outdated Windows XP.
