Performance:

Each MacBook Pro comes standard with a large hard drive with up to 500GB of storage capacity, so there’s plenty of room for your photo libraries, video projects, and files.  With the MacBook Pro, Apple hasn’t radically redesigned the PowerBook form factor; it has just made a few refinements to it. Measuring 15.4 inches wide, 10.4 inches deep, and 1 inch thick, the sleek, aluminum MacBook Pro looks very similar to the 17-inch PowerBook G4 it replaces.

3. Alienware Area-51 M17

Alienware’s latest gaming laptop behemoth has landed in the US, and the Area-51 m17 should be plenty powerful enough to play the latest titles. The recent Alienware M17X had a radical (for Alienware) redesign, with a matte black all-over finish that made the entire thing look like an imposing slab of high-frame-rate granite.

Performance:

Run your fingers above the keyboard on your M17x and you won’t feel a thing. Your laptop however, will. The most stunning graphics have made this machine fantastic for use. It is just a gaming zone with pretty intense speed. The 2-megapixel webcam provided decent images but was nothing to write home about. The sound output was ample enough to accommodate building-shattering booms and the steady burst of fire for all the explosive games we tested, without sounding tinny.

Specifications:

  • Weight: 9.5lbs
  • Optical storage type: DVD+/-RW – Integrated
  • Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo 2.26 GHz
  • Video-Total Available Graphics Memory: 1 GB (2 x 512 MB)

4. HP Touchsmart IQ810

The HP TouchSmart IQ810 has got some striking looks. The all in one PC is set in glossy black plastic and the front is dominated by the 26″ 1920×1200 screen. The only other thing on the front of the machine is the TouchSmart button, which activates HPs proprietary touch screen software.

Performance:

The new design makes it wall-mountable too, and there are a few audio outputs, including SPDIF, in case you want to hook up to a larger home cinema stack instead of using the integrated speakers. It’s as near silent running as possible, and to complement the true HD specs of the screen there’s a slot-loading Blu-ray drive hidden away on the right.

Specifications:

  • Display: 25.5 inch / LED
  • Resolution: 1920 x 1200 pixel
  • Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo
  • Memory: 4GB RAM, 500GB HDD

5. Dell XPS Studio 16

Dell has come up with a very new sleek and stylish notepad” THE Dell XPS Studio 16”. The 16-inch Studio XPS 16 dazzles with a first-of-its-kind RGB-LED screen option—which bursts with colors and offers wide viewing angles—and a sleek glossy black design, complete with leather accents. The Dell Studio XPS 16 is designed for those who want power, cutting-edge features, and style. If you’re someone who likes to make a statement with your notebook, the metal and leather looks of the Studio XPS 16 will help you in that area too.

Performance:

Images looked sharp on the laptop’s RGB LED screen. Only if you don’t have bright daylight which bounces off the colorful and glossy display. The sound of the Studio XPS 16, on the other hand, falls a little flat. Two speaker grilles flank the keyboard. Dell’s Studio XPS 16 is squarely aimed at people who want to get a little more for their entertainment buck; it’s a solidly built multimedia machine that piles on features without breaking the bank.
