A survey conducted by ABI Research has revealed that IPhone users spend
a lot on the mobile phone applications as compared to the amount to buy the smartphones and the services.
The researcher has the opinion that the overall market position is being affected by the Apple, which is bringing down its prices. Perhaps it can’t be assumed that Apple has done it intentionally, it could be a consequence of using the iTunes model.
It has triggered the competition between application developers to offer the same apps utilizing different USP techniques (Unique selling point). Apple has exposed the developers to the dilemma of presenting their applications for Apple’s App Store, on a lower price or sell out these at higher prices through other stores.
This competition urged Nokia, RIM, Samsung and Palm to establish their stores.

By offering applications for non-Apple mobile devices, Apple has given great advantages to the mobile companies. Besides this, it has opened a new way for mobile developers to develop new applications.
