On Wednesday, Microsoft announced that it would file two separate
copyright infringement cases the GPS navigation company. The Software giant has already been complaining regarding its eight patents infringements before the International Trade Commission and US District Court in Washington.
Horacio Gutierrz, who is Microsoft deputy general counsel, says in an interview: “for more than one year, the company has been trying to settle licensing issues with the company and didn’t find them serious enough for talks and it seems that they are not serious enough about licensing terms.”
On the other hand, TomTom spokesperson says that it’s their company policy not to comment on legal issues.
Microsoft is, often, on the receiving end for patent infringement complaints, but it’s their third case regarding patent infringement that they are taking to the court.
To license it technology, Microsoft has already been dealing with many other GPS makers like Alpine, Kenwood and Pioneer.
