At the same time as a lot of manufacturers rushed into the touch-screennokia-5800-xpress-music mania, the other manufacturers were cautious. However, Nokia decided to stay safe and it was only recently that the cell phone giant has introduced the first touch-screen phone called the Nokia 5800 Xpress Music. This one is considered to be in cut-throat competition with the already popular Apple iPhone. The phone is bundled with a rage of high-end features and it’s all enclosed in a slim and a sharp package that possesses a magnanimous touchscreen. There is a lot of anticipation about the final version of this phone and the Finnish manufacturer has no plans of releasing the phone with the US carrier, however, you can get hold of an unlocked version for merely $500.

Design

A lot of features installed in the Nokia 5800 are inspired by the likes of Samsung Omnia or iPhone. This one comes in a candy bar shape with rounded edges and distinctively fine lines. There are black and burgundy colour schemes available with the Xpress Music and is relatively small when compared to the other touchscreen phones, however they are still thicker than the normal. At just 3.84 ounces in weight, it gives a robust yet a comfortable grip in the hand. The touchscreen is measured to be 3.2 inches and supports the resolution of 640 x 360. It has an amazing aspect ratio of 16:9 and with this kind of a resolution, the colours appear bright and vibrant and the pictures as well as the graphics look sharp.

You can change the backlighting time, size of the font as well as the brightness. Anytime during the call, the display of the phone will go dark and hence the brightness would adjust itself automatically to all the varied lighting surroundings.

Features

The most essential features in the phone include the text & video messaging as well as the vibrating mode. The users would also be able to listen to the range of the ringtones that are included in the phone. There is also a calendar, an alarm clock, a world clock, a currency-unit converter and voice recorder. There are all those organisers that we usually stumble on all the phones in the Nokia N series. The phone also possesses the USB mass storage along with a file manger and an integrated wireless internet protocol. It is highly preferred amongst the business owners as the phone includes the complete HTML browser and you can also come across the GPS support. The added feature is the Nokia Maps.

There is an amazing music player that is comparable to most of the Nokia N series models. The interface is pretty simple and it also offers the best album art. However, there are a range of settings that help you personalise the phone as per your convenience.
