Microsoft has been ordered by a Texan court that it will have to pay $200m
to the Canadian firm i4i regarding copyright infringement.
On the other hand, Microsoft says that it’s going to appeal against this court decision and it also stated that it wasn’t infringed patents for manipulating documents in the Word which is Microsoft processor program as well as Windows Vista operating system.
According to a Microsoft spokesperson, the evidence shows that the patent from the i4i is not valid and Microsoft didn’t infringe.
“We firmly believe that the award for these damages can’t be supported factually or legally and that’s why we are going to ask the court for overturning the verdict,” he added.
The case was filed against Microsoft two years back, but it was totally different from the case that Microsoft is contesting against Uniloc Inc in which Microsoft has been asked to pay $388m.
