Samsung’s senior executive told that Samsung will be selling numerous
mobiles this year based on Linux open source softwares. Samsung is the second largest mobile phone company all over the world.
The details were told by head of product strategy, Samsung, Won-Pyo Hong. He said that Samsung will be selling 3 mobile sets based on Google’s Android, whereas 1 mobile set will be sold based on LiMo’s Linux.
Won-Pyo Hong said that the sets will be coming to the market nearby the end of this year. Ha said “By the end of the year, we will be on both markets”, although it is not clear which market will be the first one to see the sets; Europe or U.S.
It is noticeable that previously Linux, a successful computer operating system saw little success in mobiles. Still it has become more famous as Google is using LiMo’s operator focused platform. Linux is being used by Google for Android as a platform.
Samsung’s opting for Linux can be a successful step as Google has earned success too. Linux is a computer operating system, quite popular as a type of open source software used, revised and shared by numerous users.
