Motorola Sues Blackberry

It has been reported this week that Motorola has taken blackberry into the courts over the alleged patents and the main allegations concern was that Blackberry has used the Wi-Fi access and power management technology in their popular phones especially the Bold 9700 and there were also some claims regarding the issues of patented user interface. An estimate of about 24 handsets has been alleged by Motorola and the complaint has been filed in the international trade commission.  The blackberry are developed in Canada-based RIM and up till now no statements have been come out regarding this infringement of patents and Motorola have said that “These patented technologies are important to Motorola as they allow for more comprehensive connectivity, a better user experience and lower product costs”

As we know that blackberry has got a very good reputation in the international mobile market and this claim will definitely affect their status. Motorola has requested ITC commerce to investigate into RIM’s usage of Motorola’s patents and take some strong action against it. This clash is not happening for the first time in the history of Smartphones and in 2008 the whole world had seen a clash between these two mobile giants over the patency issues. The recent issue will be cleared some more when blackberry will respond to this claim.
