Facebook to Issue Personalized URLs

Facebook has once again come up with a unique idea to win the hearts of its 200 million users. Now, users will be able to get a personalized URL for better access by their friends to their FB account.
Members will be allowed to choose their own personalized usernames (whatever name or word they want) to be used as suffix after www.facebook.com/. Right now, the FB URLs of members consist of some randomly chosen digits, which are obviously hard to remember (try remembering a 7381004621704 instead of Harvey Scott).
The service starts 13th June, when FB will begin with the registration of personalized usernames. Those who have common names like John, James, and Ted will have to really rush for getting a www.facebook.com/ted. First come first serve rule will be applied and followed by Facebook.
Facebook has issued a notice on its blog stating, “Think carefully about the username you choose. Once it’s been selected, you won’t be able to change or transfer it.” Also, it has been told on the blog that those who signed up for an FB page after May 31st or a for user profile after today at 3 pm EDT might not be able to get a personalized URL because of certain measures that have been taken by the company to prevent “prevent abuse or ’squatting’ on names.”
Let us not forget to praise the social networking site for keeping this service free.
