7 reasons why the Sony Ericsson Satio can challenge the iPhone

If there is a phone that could put Sony Ericsson back in the list of the elite phone sales vendors, the Sony Ericsson Satio would be it. Top level officials from  Europe have even gone the length of comparing the Satio to the iPhone which created huge waves in the telephony market when it crashed into it. In a bid to validate the views that the Satio could be just as good as the iPhone, if not better, here are some seven reasons.

First and foremost the Satio is so well designed to allow one handed control.

This factor directly beats the iPhone’ s two handed application which has led to the phenomena of the ‘iPhone hunch’ describing how iPhone users pock at the device when using it. The icons on the Satio are well placed to be reached by the sweeping motions of just one hand.

Cost is always a burning issue and on this one Ericsson have gone off the bat to provide packages that cost as little as $35 every month. This is a great difference from the iPhone’ s $50 plus charges that leave you cursing every step of the way.

Nothing in a phone impresses more than creative and entertaining features. On the Satio the camera most definitely stands out. This 12MP camera is the kind you would ask for were you to be given the task of being the next James Bond. Given the flop of the 2MP camera feature on the iPhone, the Satio’ s camera sets a new benchmark for camera phones.

The Satio phone interface is based on the new operating system that uses Symbian technology. Kudos to Ericsson designers for finally getting rid of the worn out stone age phone interface it has been using for forever and at the right time too. This new interface provides easy navigation capabilities, scrollable screens and pop ups that make using it a great experience. Nothing on the iPhone.

Any phone that can allow you to download 15 movies for free is one to be taken seriously. Though this addition is still in the works, the Play Now Arena on the Satio will offer users 15 free movies out of the box with 5 more each month. This is almost too much than can be bargained for but hey who is complaining? This just covers all the entertainment needs of users and then some.

These added features that are all amazing are not meant to distract users from the traditional uses of phones. Messaging being such a prime function of any phone has been taken to a whole new level in the Satio. With a chic QWERTY keypad complete with alphanumeric codes and 80’s retro styles, the Satio rocks. While the iPhone is busy waiting the much hyped 3.0 update that will enable landscape  texting the Satio is good and ready.

Lack of an expandable memory feature on the iPhone greatly hampers its functionality, a factor that has no probability of changing in the foreseeable future. The Satio provides an 8GB microSD memory card that puts it in the same level as the lower range iPhone. This is all good until the 32GB microSD memory card is unleashed and large will take on a whole new meaning. Remember all those movies? Here is where they will all fit while the iPhone assumes nomadic traits moving between the PC and the iTunes to supplement storage.

If these are not enough then just the name Satio should do the trick. Ain’t it the coolest!
